THE THUMBPRINT

 

Who made

the set of letters?

 

The black letters,

the brown letters,

who made them?

 

Was it the chalk?

Or was it a bird's feather?

Or the termites

and the blackboard did?

 

Who made

the letters

after all?

 

'I did..., I did,'

the thumbprint said

in a stoic manner

gesturing with thumb,

pointing toward signatures

to mock them

 

and disappeared

in the blotting paper.

 

 

 

ASSET

 

After combing

the entire metropolitan,

I have concluded that

in such a big city

the most significant asset I have is

my constant breath

locked in my heart

that I spend little by little.

 

Why shouldn't

I go someday and deposit it

in that rusty looking

community bank

that sits on the edge of the city.

 

I think, with interest earned from it

I shall be able to spend

many a lifetime

in great luxury.
